  • Dr. Roland Engelbrecht

    BOARD DIRECTOR

    Dr. Roland Engelbrecht, MBChB, Dip PEC, CCFP(AM), ISAM(c) is a family physician from Williams Lake, British Columbia, who has dedicated his medical practice to addiction treatment. Roland is also the chair of the Canadian Alcohol Use Disorder Society’s Clinical Advisory Committee.

  • Bruce Harries

    BOARD CHAIR

    Previously our Board Vice Chair, Bruce has been involved in the improvement of business performance for most of his career. He spent fifteen years with TELUS Corporation in a variety of management roles including Corporate Secretary, Director of Communications and Director of Quality. He co-founded Improvement Associates in 2000 and has worked primarily on the improvement of healthcare. He is a former board member of the Alberta Health Quality Council (HQCA) and a faculty member with Health Quality BC (HQBC). He is a graduate of Trent University, the Banff School of Advanced Management and holds an MBA from IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland.

  • Allan McCallister

    BOARD TREASURER

    As a retired CPA with more than 20 years experience as a CFO/Controller in the non-profit sector, Allan brings a wealth of financial and strategic experience to the Society. His past work and volunteer service includes CFO for the Alberta Boilers Safety Association; Controller for the United Way of Alberta Capital Region; and a Board Member for the Allen Gray Continuing Care Center. Allan has worked with senior management in strategic leadership roles -- setting organizational direction, working with external auditors and developing policies. He has also led teams in all aspects of financial and information systems management including financial planning, budgeting, cash flow, investments and risk management.

  • Lori Motluk

    PAST BOARD CHAIR

    We thank Lori for her work as Board Chair, and are grateful that she is continuing as an integral member of the Board, currently serving asa Director and Past Board Chair. Lori’s career in healthcare, from frontline nursing to high-level leadership positions, has spanned four decades and five provinces. Her leadership roles include serving as the Interior Health Executive Director, Hospitals and Communities Integrated Services for the South Okanagan and North Okanagan, and as the Executive Director, Clinical Operations for Kootenay Boundary and South Okanagan. Holding a nursing diploma, an MBA and a Fellowship in Healthcare Improvement, Lori’s portfolio includes a diverse range of clinical services and collaborative system transformation initiatives. Throughout her career, she has seen families, staff and friends struggle with AUD, and is inspired by new treatments that will augment care, provide hope of recovery, and have far reaching impacts for individuals, families, communities and healthcare itself.

  • Bill Motluk

    BOARD DIRECTOR

    Now retired, Bill has held various senior management positions with Canadian National Railway in western Canada, and has consulted for CN and Union Pacific Railways working on improvement projects such as terminal efficiencies and the implementation of precision railroading. He has seen the effects of AUD on workers within this industry. Bill strongly believes that better awareness and a compassionate view of AUD would not only help individuals, but also has great potential for employers to retain qualified employees who would otherwise be lost to the disorder.

  • Debra Salverda

    BOARD DIRECTOR

    Debra Salverda is a Registered Psychiatric Nurse with 30 years of experience in local and international community development and healthcare.

    Debra is currently working in a Team Lead role with Interior Health in the field of Mental Health and Substance Use and is passionate about the topic.
